Mark Merritt

Volunteer of the Week!

American Lung Association of The Southwest

Mark Merritt demonstrates his commitment to lung health throughout his professional and personal endeavors. As the Respiratory Supervisor for University of Colorado Hospital, he spends his days fighting lung disease at work. In addition, he was a key player in making the campus smoke free

Mr. Merritt is also a vital asset to Champ Camp, where he has directed the Respiratory therapy program for the past two years. He constantly strives to come up with ways to strengthen the respiratory program and asthma education at Champ Camp, and can deliver top-notch, interesting presentations without any advance notice. He is creative and humorous in his interactions with parents, volunteers and campers, and contributes a substantial amount of his time to make sure that campers have a positive experience. He willingly gives presentations about Champ Camp to various organizations, including the Concorde Career College, Pima Medical Institute and the Colorado Society for Respiratory Care. In addition to his leadership and his position on the camp’s steering committee, Mr. Merritt actively seeks out funding to improve Champ Camp.

Mr. Merritt is a tremendous asset to the American Lung Association of the Southwest in Colorado. Through his passion, dedication, knowledge, flexibility, authority and humor, he shows us what to expect from a great volunteer. The American Lung Association is privileged to name Mr. Merritt our Volunteer of the Week for all of his advocacy and hard work for healthy lungs.
