We need your story to save the air we breathe!

The promise of the Clean Air Act is healthful air to breathe.    Right now, it is under strong attack in Congress by some who would weaken its provisions, delay clean up, or worse, allow an increase in toxic pollutants.  The data is clear that this will harm children, older adults, those living with asthma and other lung diseases, those with cardiovascular disease, and more.

But data alone is not convincing some in Congress.  Help us make them understand why clean air is so essential.  Tell us your story!

We need to hear from you – click here to tell us why clean air matters to you!

Perhaps it’s because you have a child or grandchild who has asthma that’s exacerbated by dirty air.  Or maybe it’s for you.

The truth is clean air helps us all:

  • Air pollution causes asthma attacks, emergency room visits and hospitalizations, long-term lung and cardiovascular disease, lung cancer, and premature death in seniors and infants;
  • Just last year, the Clean Air Act prevented 160,000 premature deaths nationwide.

Your story ensures that the statistics and science we have on our side come to life.  We will use them in our continued outreach to Congress, until they are no longer divided – but firmly on the side of clean air and a healthy future.

Thank you for your defense of clean air!

The Investing in Tobacco Free Youth Campaign

"Other tobacco products" (OTP), which includes non-cigarette forms of tobacco like cigars, smokeless tobacco, and hookah tobacco, are a growing problem in Ohio. While high school students have decreased their use of cigarettes, they have not decreased their use of smokeless tobacco or cigars. These products come in candy flavors and kid-friendly packaging and are often displayed in convenience stores near candy and snacks.

The Investing in Tobacco-Free Youth Coalition is dedicated to reducing the problem of non-cigarette tobacco products, called "other tobacco products," use by Ohioans, especially our youth. The Coalition is seeking to make the products less appealing to youth by correcting the inequity between the other tobacco products tax and the cigarette tax.

The campaign is a coalition of health organizations including the American Lung Association, American Heart Association, Academy of Medicine of Cleveland and Northeast Ohio, Association of Ohio Health Commissioners, Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, Children's Defense Fund, Cleveland Clinic, OhioHealth, Ohio State Medical Association, Tobacco Public Policy Center, and Universal Healthcare Action Network (UHCAN) Ohio.
