Advocacy

Advocacy Washington DC

Advocacy. What does it mean? It means to actively support an idea or cause. At the American Lung Association our idea is simple. We want a world free from lung disease. With that one idea in mind, we set forth to influence the development and enforcement of laws and regulations that promote lung health at the national, state and local level.

We recognize that public policy change at all levels of government is critical to achieving our mission. And while we have made great strides over the years, we still have an important job to perform.

It is not until the air over every American city is clean and pure that we will breathe easier.

It is not until the air in our public spaces, workplaces and children's homes is free of secondhand smoke that we will breathe easier.

It is not until we are free from the addictive grip of cigarettes and the debilitating effects of lung disease that we will breathe easier.

Until that time, we will continue to advocate for what we know is right. And we will call upon volunteers like you to join our cause. Because we know that one call, one email, one voice really does make a difference.

Your Voice. Your Power. Your American Lung Association.
